Zacchaeus Treetop Principle – the treetop yields the best access and views (Luke 19: 1-10)

Zacchaeus wanted to meet and learn from Jesus, the greatest teacher of all time. Others had similar ambitions and they had better qualifications, social connections and recommendations. As he pondered his challenges, a simple solution occurred to him that others overlooked—a tree waiting for someone to climb to its top. He knew the risks. He could fall off the tree and hurt himself, criticized and mocked by others, and the teacher might not recognize his efforts or call on him. He took his chances and claimed up the tree, placing himself above everyone. The teacher recognized, invited and admitted him despite the public outcry and outrage.

Application

God rewards desire supported by demonstrative faith.
Creativity, ingenuity, effort and persistence can eliminate prior disadvantages.
There is always a public route providing access to the top.
There is no route without detractors and risks.
Treetops provide the best views and access.
No strategy can guarantee success, except new opportunity.
The classroom treetop seats are where you can be easily seen, recognized and helped.
There are always simple and honorable ways to distinquish oneself from the pack.
Try a new and bold route if others fail.
