Workplace Kindness & Healing

Bible Passage: Ruth 2 (NIV)

Passage Key Words: “found such favor,” “spoken kindly,” comfort, kinsman-redeemer

Topical Key Words: kindness, compassion, support, healing, reward

Ruth worked at a farm collecting leftovers.  That is, work-welfare, in today’s language.  As a childless widow, her life had been very difficult and filled with grief and material hardships.  Nevertheless, she trusted God without wavering and worked to support herself and her mother in-law.  The owner of the farm from which she collected her social benefits noticed and rewarded her kindness and hard work with kind words, food supports and opportunities.  Through Boaz’s kindness, God’s redemptive and healing power flowed and healed Ruth’s heart and life, including her mother in-law.  Boaz, in turn, found acceptance and kindness in Ruth, as spouse and life companion.

May God make us channels through which His kindness flows and circulates to produce healing wherever we live and work.
