Fear, Unbelief & Disobedience

Bible Passage: 1 Samuel 13: 1-13 (NIV)

Fear motivated Saul’s first act of disobedience and revealed the hidden doubts and unbelief in his heart. He looked at the battle before him and concluded that he cannot afford to depend or wait on God. Ignoring God’s instructions, he acted hastily and missed the opportunity to demonstrate his faith and experience God’s deliverance. Likewise, the spies Moses sent out to survey the land of Canaan rebelled against God leadership because they feared the challenges ahead and doubted God’s care for them. Their fears and self-willed response revealed their lack of trust and faith in God’s love and promises. Therefore, our fears often inspire disobedience because they come from our disbelief and lack of faith in God’s promises. As a result of our fears and doubts, “Trust in God” and “Do not fear” are the words God gives to men and women everywhere called to serve Him.

May God open our hearts to know, understand, accept and believe all His promises.
