Prayer Spaces

Jesus carved out time to prayer even when admirers thronged around him, he needed to choose leaders (disciples) or he faced the most difficult test of him earthly ministry (his trial and crucifixion). Often, he prayed in secret, stopping to reflect and rejuvenate, and away from distractions and busyness. To teach about prayer, he modeled it through his lifestyle (Mark 1:35) and challenged us to withdraw from our interests and deceitful motives, and to become humble, intimate and yielded to God.

Apart from our secret and private spaces (“closet”), other prayer spaces are formed within the spiritual walls of our faith community. Whenever we gather with other believers to pray—with as few as two or three persons—God’s Holy Spirit bonds and seals the spiritual boundaries created by His praying saints. These prayer spaces become places for rest, comfort, commission and empowerment.

May God give us the wisdom and strength to find time to pray even when it seems unnecessary.
