An annoying Florescent Light Bulb

Have you had pressing work and deadlines to meet and your office florescent started flickering when you least expected? Before you called maintenance, it stopped but started again when you sat down to clear some emergencies. You wanted to turn off your lights and use natural light but your office location made it impossible. You finally called maintenance and took off to chitchat, and returned, hoping that everything returned to normal. Maintenance did not come but left you a massage stating that the ballast must be loose, which is the heart of the unit. You were irritated and disappointed, and called back. They came and fiddled but their fix did not last. “We need to replace the ballast with a new one!” You told them. “Correct,” they responded.

As light at our workplace, a Christian who does not live up to his or her Christ-like potential is like a flickering bulb. A new heart (spirit) is always the cure and God’s spiritual surgery is free. We only have to submit, pray and ask God in repentance, for forgiveness and restoration. Then the light of God’s joy in our lives will glow anew for all to see.

When we need a new spiritual heart, may God help us to remember that He is always a whisper-prayer away—near, willing and ready to restore and refresh our Christian spirit and joy.
