Our Office Neighbor’s Sins

We are prone to overlook our failures while belaboring the faults of others. King David “burned with anger” and proposed the death sentence for the rich man who took a poor’s man only lamb for his dinner guests. David overlooked that with his many wives he had killed another man to take his one wife (2 Samuel 12). When God exposed his blind spots, he realized that his indignation came from his self-righteous oversight. Similarly, Jesus exposed the faults of those who praised themselves and condemned others before God (Luke 18:9-14). He showed that our unacknowledged sins may induce us to believe that other people’s sins are worse. But when we acknowledge and repent of our own faults before God, we can often find mercy and compassion toward others.

May God through his forgiveness of us help us to forgive, pray and show mercy to others.
