The Untimely Resignations, Terminations & The Great Unknown
Bible Passage: I Samuel 19 (NIV)

David’s supervisor and employer, King Saul, wanted to harm him. After much effort to hold his job through accommodation, prayer and counseling with a trust friend and confidant (Jonathan), David quit his job. With life ahead uncertain and frightful, he trusted God and left to pursue his heart and passion. The loss of his job and financial security made life hard and challenging for many years. Periods of doubts and discouragements came in avalanches. He persevered and all God’s promises to him were fulfilled.
Similar stories abound about business executives who became very successful because they finally pursued their dreams and passions when they lost their jobs. Therefore, pursuing God and one’s heart is superior to the cheers of any supervisor, employer, neighbor, friend or crowd. Though our future paths seem uncertain and unknown, God “watches over” them (Psalm 1:6).
May we find more hope and confidence in God than in the assurances and securities of any job or employer.
