Workplace Week 48: Always Thanking God

Workplace Meditation

Always Thanking God

Bible Passage: Ephesians 5:20 (NIV)

Passage Key Words: “always giving thanks to God,” “for everything”

Topical Key Words: gratitude, appreciation, thanksgiving, praise, positive attitude

Peter and other apostles were “flogged” for sharing Jesus with others and they rejoiced because God counted them “worthy” to suffer for Christ.  Jacob endured fourteen years working for an unethical employer at poverty wages because he would marry the woman he loved (Genesis 29).  The American Quakers faced daunting hardships but they found in their trials and challenges temporal and eternal blessings that turned work and lifestyle into ministry and missionary work.

We are inspired by the enthusiasm and gratitude of new employees who after months of disappointing job haunts gain employment.  They overlook the job-related drudgeries and irritations that disquieted others because are focused on the opportunity and the expected paychecks or rewards.

May God give us hearts that turn every circumstance into an opportunity for thanksgiving, joy and praise.
